Jane’s Due Process will confidentially deliver free repro kits to teens in Lubbock, Bryan, College Station, and San Angelo, Texas. Each kit contains two doses of emergency contraception (also known as Plan B or the morning-after pill), two pregnancy tests, condoms, a plastic cup for use while taking the pregnancy test, and a zine containing information about your reproductive health and rights.
Teens in these areas can text Jane’s Due Process at 866-999-5263 Monday through Friday between 8 am and 11 pm CT to coordinate delivery of the repro kit. When you text our text line, a volunteer will respond, and together you will coordinate where and when you’ll receive your kit.
In Lubbock, we also have a pick-up location at Rock-Paper-Shears Hair Studio and Gallery. Young people can ring the doorbell during business hours and receive a free repro kit, no questions asked. Rock-Paper-Shears is located at 1103 Main Street in Lubbock.
Emergency contraception pills are 95% effective at preventing pregnancy if taken up to 5 days after intercourse. For the best results, morning-after pills should be taken within 3 days of intercourse if possible.
Teens under the age of 18 can legally access emergency contraception (Plan B) in Texas. Texas requires teens under the age of 18 to get a parent’s permission to get prescription birth control, like daily oral contraception or long-acting reversible contraceptives. Emergency contraception is available over the counter without a prescription (except for the brand ella).
If you’re not in the cities served by Jane’s Due Process, don’t freak out. Check out this post about various organizations in different Texas cities and counties providing free emergency contraception to people of any age.
