2026 will mark 25 years of Jane’s Due Process providing direct abortion access support to young Texans. We were the first-ever organization in the United States founded solely to serve teens accessing abortion through judicial bypass, and while so much has changed since then, we continue to build power for youth bodily autonomy. In 2025, we got louder than ever about the need to expand youth reproductive healthcare access, and as we near the end of the year, we’re reflecting on all the ways we showed up to make sure that youth are at the center of the movement.

In the spring, we organized the Yeehaw for Abortion event during SXSW. Hundreds of young people showed up to learn more about the fight for abortion access, get connected to resources, and create joy together to keep us fortified for the long haul. Our Youth Advocacy Fellows traveled to Take Root, the Red State Reproductive Justice conference, and shared about how abortion bans are impacting teens. We educated our communities about the harms of Proposition 15, a state constitutional amendment that would allow other children’s parents’ beliefs to impact the choices of other people’s children. We joined with our partners at Texas abortion funds during the state legislative session to fight back against continued attacks on reproductive healthcare access, and our My Body, My Future Act bill was once again filed in an effort to repeal the state’s parental consent requirement for minor access to prescription birth control. And we traveled to Geneva to talk to the Untied Nations about the erosion of youth reproductive rights in the U.S.

And we’ve got big plans to keep it up in 2026. Young people belong at the center of shifting narratives and policy toward a more expansive vision for reproductive healthcare in Texas — and as we all know, what happens in Texas never stays here. We’ll also continue supporting young Texans as they travel for abortion access, providing free emergency contraceptives to teens in various Texas communities, answering questions about sexual health, and providing support to Texas teens continuing their pregnancies for any reason. We really are building power for a better world while meeting the needs of young people right now, and we’re doing it joyfully to boot.
