On April 2, 2025, Texans from across the state gathered at the Capitol for Texas Abortion Funds Advocacy Day—a powerful day of action organized by Texas abortion funds including our Rosie’s Law Coalition.
Constituents from the Rio Grande Valley, rural counties, and major cities met directly with lawmakers to demand real, life-saving legislation like Rosie’s Law, and to reject misleading bills that pretend to offer care while reinforcing harmful abortion bans. With nearly 85 percent of Texans opposing total abortion bans, our message was clear: elected officials must act in alignment with our values.
We also pushed for other critical bills, including the My Body, My Future Act, a pilot program for Medicaid doula coverage, and protections for survivors making healthcare decisions. At the same time, we called on lawmakers to fix SB 31, which as written, threatens care, autonomy, and safety for all Texans by criminalizing abortion seekers and those who support them.
In every meeting, hallway, and rotunda, we reminded legislators that exception bills must do more than offer political cover—they must be written to actually protect pregnant people and the people who support them. If lawmakers are going to pass these bills, they have a responsibility to ensure they do not inadvertently cause real harm.
We showed up. We spoke out. And we’re not stopping.

“Hi, my name is ______. I am urging you to fix SB 31 to remove the language that could criminalize pregnant Texans who access abortion care and the people who help them. Texans deserve access to care and safety, not criminalization for seeking healthcare and supporting their neighbors.”
