TOMORROW, Wednesday May 5th, SB 8 and HB 1280 will be heard in the Texas House of Representatives. SB 8 is the Senate version of HB 1515, the 6-week abortion ban that would allow anyone to sue someone they suspect of helping someone get an abortion in Texas. HB 1280 is what is known as a “trigger ban” — it means that abortion will immediately become banned in Texas the moment Roe v. Wade is overturned at any point in the future.
Act now to stop SB 8 and HB 1280! Call your Texas state representative and tell them to fight against these two bills — and spread the word on social media!

I am calling to let the Rep know that I STRONGLY OPPOSE SB 8 and HB 1280, and to ask the Rep to vote NO on both of these bills. SB 8 would ban abortion before most people know they’re pregnant, and it would allow for anyone to sue someone they suspect has helped someone get an abortion — opening the door to all kinds of abuse and harassment through the court system. HB 1280 would ban abortion immediately if Roe v. Wade is overturned. Again, I STRONGLY OPPOSE SB 8 and HB 1280, and ask that the Rep vote NO on both of these bills.
