Step-by-Step Guide to Abortion Funding/Guía de Ayuda Financiera Para Aborto

01. Make an appointment at your nearest abortion clinic. If you need financial assistance, we strongly recommend an appointment at a Planned Parenthood or a NAF member abortion clinic. It’s okay if you don’t have the money yet. Abortion funding is available. The abortion funds that you call will need to have your appointment date and the total cost of the procedure in order for them know where to send the money they give you.

02. Ask the clinic for help. For Planned Parenthood, ask to be screened for the Justice Fund (if you are under 18). For any other clinic, ask to be screened for abortion funding from NAF (National Abortion Federation).

03. Contact your local abortion fund. For all these funds, follow the instructions & leave a clear message. You will get a call back within 24 hours.

  1. If you live or are getting an abortion in Dallas, Fort Worth, or Waco, call the TEA Fund, 1-888-854-4852, on Monday or Thursday mornings.
  2. If you live or are getting an abortion in San Antonio/Houston/Austin/McAllen, call the Lilith Fund, 1-877-659-4304, on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday morning between 7am and 10am.
  3. If you live in West Texas or are getting an abortion in El Paso, call or text the West Fund, 915-213-4535 (Eng) or 915-213-4578 (Spanish).

04. If you have done all those things and still need funding, and there are some extenuating circumstances (like you’re a minor, you’re in your second trimester, you just lost a job, or you’re just outside the income brackets for NAF, etc), ask the clinic if they have emergency funding (through WRRAP or Make-a-Difference fund), or try the Tiller Fund, 866-592-1901, which is a national fund for extreme cases (call on Mondays).

05. If you need help paying for travel, call Fund Texas Choice, 844-900-8908, to leave a message at least 4 days before your appointment. (You can call closer to the date, but may not hear back in time to have a trip planned.) Fund Texas Choice can pay for bus tickets, gas money, hotel costs, and plane tickets. If you are in the Rio Grande Valley & need transportation funding, call Frontera Fund, (956) 307-9330.

06. If you need a ride, call your local practical support network: Bridge Collective (512-524-9822) for Austin, the Clinic Access Support Network (281-947-2276) in Houston, and the Cicada Collective in DFW. Follow their instructions & leave a message.

07. Go to your appointment even if you do not have all the funds (if you are going to a Planned Parenthood or a NAF member). These clinic may be able to offer emergency funds for you. The abortion will only get more expensive as you delay, so go to your scheduled appointments.

 

  1. Haz una cita con la clínica del aborto más cercano.   3. Si no tienes cómo llegar a tu cita, llame a una red de apoyo local: Bridge Collective (512-524-9822) en Austin y San Antonio, el Clinic Access Support Network (281-947-2276) en Houston, y el Cicada Collective en DFW. Ponle atención a las direcciones y deje un mensaje.
  4. Ve a la cita incluso si todavía no tienes todo el dinero (si vas a una clínica de Planned Parenthood o de NAF). Es posible que la clínica tiene fondos de emergencia. El coste del aborto soló va a subir si esperas, así que es muy importante asistir a tu cita programada.
