What’s up at Jane’s: April 2014
A Letter from our Director:
Dear Friend of Jane’s Due Process,
Running a 24/7 legal hotline, I hear firsthand accounts every day of how hard it is for women and girls to obtain abortions. I am starting to feel like an air traffic controller. I beg clinics to see our judicial bypass clients. I struggle to help minors obtain their sonograms and counseling. They need those to go to court. They don’t need more delays in receiving abortion care.
With so many providers having to shut their doors, as others cut back hours or provide services only on weekends, pregnant minors must work their way through a daunting maze. The consequences of Texas’ newly enacted abortion restrictions are real. We know. We hear the stories. Sometimes, callers sound desperate.
This past week, a minor told me that she tried “to stop the pregnancy.”
Our attorneys and volunteers are stepping up. Will you step up?
