One Year Later: JDP and #HB2

From our July Newsletter:

Dear Friend of Jane’s Due Process,

Just over a year after the historic filibuster to protect the right for Texas women to access abortion care, minors across the state are feeling the effects of HB2’s draconian restrictions. Fifteen clinics have closed since the laws took effect, greatly obstructing the ability for minors to access contraception and abortion care, and making it difficult for our services to become known. Come September 1, more clinics will close, as the ambulatory surgical center requirement goes into effect. More young women will be forced to seek black market medications, as reported by The Atlantic.

The work of Jane’s Due Process has seldom been so critical. Access to reproductive health care is steadily eroding, and the obstacles for minors continue to mount. Challenges await us in this uphill battle, but donors, volunteers, and supporters like you reenergize us as we continue fighting. We hope that you will join us as we work to ensure that minors in Texas have the same constitutional rights as other minors across our nation.
