Jane’s Due Process was founded in 2001 to help Texas teens navigate judicial bypass. We were the first-ever organization founded to help teens access abortion through judicial bypass, and we remain an expert on youth reproductive healthcare access. Since our founding, our work expanded to include helping teens navigate barriers to access birth control, sex education, and pregnancy support as well.

Because Texas now has a complete abortion ban, young people must travel out of state for abortion. In May 2023, our abortion support shifted to providing funding and logistical support for Texas teens traveling out of state for abortion care.

Our current programs are:

  1. Practical Support and Abortion Procedural Funding: Young people in Texas who are under 18 and facing an unwanted pregnancy can call Jane’s Due Process 24/7 and receive case management, abortion funding, and practical support for out-of-state abortion access, including coordination of travel and procedures.

  2. Reproductive Healthcare Text Line: Texas teens can text Jane’s Due Process Monday through Friday between 8 am and 11 pm CT for information on accessing birth control, STI testing, and other reproductive health services without parental consent.

  3. Repro Kits: Young Texans in Lubbock, Bryan, College Station, Amarillo, and San Angelo can request discreet delivery of one of our free repro kits through the text line. Each kit contains emergency contraception, pregnancy tests, condoms, and informational zines on digital security and youth reproductive rights. We also maintain pick-up locations in these cities for teens’ convenience and confidentiality.

  4. Youth Advocacy Fellowship: Former Jane’s Due Process clients who had abortions as teens can become Youth Advocacy Fellows. During a two-year cohort, Youth Advocacy Fellows receive leadership development, create advocacy projects within their communities, advocate at the state legislature, and share their stories with media outlets to shape the narrative around youth reproductive justice.

  5. SEX TALKS: Teens can confidentially reach out to our certified sex educator and ask specific questions regarding their concerns about sex.

  6. Judicial Bypass Table: While we no longer provide judicial bypass in Texas, we continue to be an expert on judicial bypass and parental involvement laws. We take part in a table of organizations in various states who are providing judicial bypass support, helping teens navigate barriers to abortion and birth control access, and/or working to end parental involvement laws.

  7. Empowering Young Parents: In September 2024, we launched the Empowering Young Parents program. This program provides support to young people in Texas choosing to continue their pregnancy for any reason. We provide a virtual doula throughout pregnancy, a small stipend to help offset costs of early parenting, and a workbook full of information on what to expect during the first year of parenthood.

Jane’s Due Process remains committed to helping young Texans access the full-spectrum of reproductive healthcare despite bans and barriers while building a future where everyone has true bodily autonomy. Young Texans can call or text 866-999-5263 for more information.
